Nia's Ultrasound Pic

Nia's Second Pair of Pumas

To go along with her super cool animal print 917 Puma's we got as a promo from Puma, shes now got a styling pair of black and pink Puma hi-tops from Puma (Free as well from DJing at the store...) These are also for when she starts walking. They are the cutest, well, one of the two coolest pairs of shoes ever. They're tiny and they come in a little Puma box, the picture does not do the cuteness factor any justice.

It's Nia!

Here's Nia's debut in her first feature film!

Shes a wiggler!

IT'S A....

GIRL!

We found out today that Melissa and I have a little baby girl brewing! Everything looks great according to the ultrasound and we have video of her bouncing around in there. We got to see everything from her fingers and toes to the chambers in her heart and brain lobes. Half the time she was wiggling around and the other times she was chilling with what looked to be her arm behind her head and sucking her thumb.

I guess we have to retire "Buddy" now and use her name... We decided on Nia for a first name. It means "purpose" in Swahili. We're still working on a middle name. We like Isabel (Spanish) which means "God's Promise" (Also a derrivative of Elizabeth in Hebrew which is our daughter Gillian's middle name, or Isabelle which is the French version)

We want to meet her so bad the wait is torture.

Video and pics coming soon...

My turn..

I know that I haven't been the blogmaster for this site, but that just goes to show how awesome my husband is and what an amazing Daddy he will be to Buddy. I feel so fortunate to be on this journey with someone so loving, so enthusiastic, and so patient (sooooo patient). I love him and the baby we've created with all my heart.
Tuesday we find out whether it's Buddy or Buddette, but more importantly, how well Buddy is growing and developing into the amazing person s/he will be. Stay tuned. -M

Buddy: Week 17

From the site:

"By now you're well aware you're pregnant, even if your Mini hasn't started to make too much of a ruckus yet. You'll feel random aches and pains in weird places as your uterus grows. It's all part of the whole journey so don't freak out too much. Focus on those little flutters you feel in your belly as your baby lets his presence be known.

What You're Thinking:

"OMG! Is something crawling on my stomach? Oh, wait! That was the baby!"

Your baby weighs nearly 5 ounces and is a little over 5 inches long—about the size of a baked potato (load on the butter and sour cream, please)."

Melissa Week 17

Hey everyone! Just an update pic of Melissa and the "Buddy Bulge" here in week 17.

She's showing and she's glowing! The best news is on the 23rd of December we're having the ultrasound to determine the sex of buddy and we can't stand it anymore! Either way I'm getting a new baseball bat. If it's a girl it's for when guys start coming around, and if it's a boy so he can start practicing for the Yankees (There will be no Mets children in the Cohen-Muniz household). Not that a girl can't play baseball because Melissa has a mean pitch.

Other then that everything is going as planned and we're in mental overload trying to decide on a stroller/car seat. Any suggestions?

Fabulous Footwear

Melissa and I found the most adorable Puma shoes that almost match my Puma's perfectly. I know Buddy is a few months from gracing us with his or her presence (we'll find out the sex in a few weeks) but we couldn't resist...Shoes are the one perc we get from me DJing at the Puma store (You get paid in shoes when you DJ...)

12 Week Ultrasound

Image shown actual size:

Well maybe Buddy is a little bigger. Probably about 2 1/2 inches and weighing about 1/2 ounce but when they blow it up on the ultrasound Buddy looked HUGE. In a few more weeks we can find out the sex. Buddy is already one or the other but not developed enough to tell yet.

12 Week Checkup

M & I went to our 12 week checkup at the midwife center. Everything looks great and we got to hear Buddy's heartbeat! We're setting up our next ultrasound for Saturday. In a few more weeks we'll be able to find out what the sex is.

First Ultrasound

Melissa and I had our first ultrasound Wednesday. We got to see Buddy's heart beating and it was very reassuring. I like how the uterus is heart shaped. It looks like Buddy is holding drumsticks.

Midwife Center Orientation

Last night Melissa went to the orientation at the midwife center to get some more information and a tour of the place. I unfortunately could not go which bummed me out and I felt even worse when Melissa told me she was the only solo mother there (sorry for making you look like an unwed teenage mom dear). She said that they discussed allot of things we already knew but she did get to see the birthing rooms. She said two were really nice and one looked like the set of a Safari. Other then that things seem to be progressing along the way they're supposed to. Melissa is starting to get the nausea now which is a good sign even though it isn't the most pleasant. -E

Funny Story

So when Melissa and I wet to get the real pregnancy blood test it was funny because when they gave us the results Melissa and I high fived each other. That's funny, but the response from the nurse that took the test was great. After the high five the nurse said "I take it you're happy with the positive result?" and when we said yes she said "well that's a nice switch". -E

Melissa Month 1

Each month we will be posting a new picture of Melissa as Buddy continues to grow. There is also a sideshow to the left but since this is month 1, there's not much of a show. Are we seeing the "glow" of pregnancy yet? -E

Week 6

So I'm on this website which sends me emails with pics of what Buddy's looking like. Here's the week 6 (technically around week 4), heart beat's a goin, limb buds, creepy eye buds and a tail!

I'm in love. -M

First Exam

So Melissa and I decided we wanted to go the route of having a midwife and avoiding the hospitals as much as possible. Doing it the traditional way robs you of so much of what giving birth is about when you add all he drugs and doctors into the mix (no offense dear). So we had our first visit at the Midwife Center on Friday the 20th of September. It's such a loving and warm environment and they have 4 top of the line birthing jacuzzis and the people there speak with such a soft inviting tone. Part of the decision was from watching the movie "The Business of Being Born." Maybe not your typical Friday night date movie but if you're considering having kids you should check it out.

From what we learned at the exam everything looks great so far and Melissa even got a great look at her cervix. That's really it for now, the baby's not really much to look at yet but soon we'll be able to hear the heartbeat.

We already have first names picked out but were looking for some middle names, any suggestions?

So It Begins....

Melissa and I would like to welcome you to our baby blog for Buddy. Buddy is the generic name we have given to the mixed DNA cluster of cells that is now growing inside of my lovely wife which will over the next 9 months become a Jewyorican (A New Yorker of mixed Puerto Rican/Jewish heritage. Also can be spelled Juyorican). The baby is due on or around May 25, 2009, weather permitting. We will chronicle this journey for all to share for those that can't enjoy this special time here with us.

It's official... (Of course we went and had a real test done)
